Tintin is very a very talkative book series, one of the core reasons I couldn't get myself to read it when I was younger (Asterix et Obelix for the win!** :D). I read a bit of Tintin and it's really very entertaining if you know the historical context. It's obvious (like most French/Belgian comic book writers of the time) that the author has a social opinion on the subjects of race and world issues. Although Tintin is the perfect example of the world's best boy-scout, the author studied allot to get his character into the right place. I was reading 'Tintin and the blue lotus' and he was able to push in a bunch of issues. The Europeans treating the Chinese like dogs, the building Japanese threat, the Opium dens, the Boxer Rebellion... It's much more serious than any comic an adult would write for children these days.

{{If you do not know what Asterix and Obelix is, you have to look it up, or pick a book from the library. It's lung burstingly comical and happens fifty years before the birth of Christ in a small fort/town that stands alone in a widely expansive aria taken over by Roman troops. The village has a secret, under their wing they have a druid with a magical potion that grants superhuman strength to whoever drinks it (the idea doesn't sound that cool these days but at a time where there was no technology to do one's bidding, they could around with an elephant on their shoulders. It's kind of something you have to grow up with (it was translated from French by an English writer). => [link](09).jpg ))

Tintin! :D It's kinda sad there's no girl for him to share the card with (why are all of your characters men, Herge??) but it's impossible not to love regardless. :)
