The Hero and the Crown pg 157 by iesnoth The Hero and the Crown pg 157 by iesnoth
This was done for a challenge group on tumblr, and OH MY GOSH was it fun. I had so much fun designing color scheme (though I'm still not satisfied with it), symbolism, and deciding what to focus on in a very emotionally heavy scene.

If you have not read The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley, GO DO IT NOW. It's a great fantasy epic with realistic characters and a female protagonist. :D Also my first and favorite fantasy novel.

This is fabulous, you captured their dynamic and Aerin's look really well.  I don't suppose there's a chance you're working on a scene from the Blue Sword? :)

Thank you! I was worried about her, since no one who hasn't read the book would know she just got over a horrible ordeal, which is why she looks a bit... gaunt.

I'm not sure the expressions flow from panel-to-panel. It's hard to tell what mood this is trying to portray.

From the story, it's a sadness on her part and pity and guilt on his. He wants to tell her everything, but knows it will hurt her if he does. There is no right answer for him. There's also the underlying sexual tension and the knowledge that she has to leave and may not survive to see him again... it's a loaded point in the book.
Thank you for the constructive criticism. If you haven't read the book, you should really check it out. :D

It sure sounds interesting! Unfortunately I have no time to read lately, but if I can find some, this will be what I look for!
