So, I'm making some big changes to my life soon, and that includes big changes in my online "life" and my life as an artist.
For the past year I've been working full time at a day care, but in a couple weeks I am officially moving from full to part time, with my free time devoted to art and missions work.
The long term goal is to be able to quit my day job and support myself solely on art/writing.
How it will affect my art:
*I am going to reopen commissions. They will now be more important to my living, and probably be done quicker.
*I'm also interested in taking on art students for a weekly fee. I had planned on only doing this locally, but if someone is interested in Skype lessons or getting critique, I'd love to be of help. However, this will require a lot of learning on my part. I have not been trained in teaching, but I believe in more open curriculums, with feedback from the student while still instilling an appreciation for fundamentals (something I didn't realize until too late). The price for lessons would be $20 a week. For critiques of art work or writing, it depends on how much art and how long the story is.
*I'm starting a webcomic. This is still a few weeks away, because I want to build a stockpile of pages before posting, but expect a lot of developmental sketches.
*I'm strongly considering getting a patreon. Patrons will get more exclusive content, such as wallpapers, WIPs, abandoned stories and subplots, and even some livestreams if I can figure it out. I have to do some research.
*I'm going to be on the lookout for professional freelancing jobs.
^ Because of this,^ getting "seen" online is going to be very important. So if you like my art, and want to support me/see more of my process or general craziness, please follow me on my tumblr and twitter and new instagram. I'm still trying to figure out the latter, but a lot of WIP stuff will be posted there.
None of this is effective immediately (except maybe the last thing). I'll keep you guys updated on my progress. Thanks so much for your continued support, and I hope you'll be joining me on this new adventure.

I'm officially leaving DA
I'm not leaving for a negative reason, I have only positive, nostalgic memories for this site. But I've drifted, and as I'm making a career change and do not seek to be a career artist anymore, I'll be producing less art. I am not deactivating the account, though. I don't want to lose any of the art here: it's a part of my history, a history I'm not very good at remembering. If you're interested in keeping up with me, I'm most active on tumblr (@iesnoth), and to a lesser extent on instagram (@iesnothsart). If you'd like to commission me, please leave an inquiry through this form. If you are curious about prices, they are here. Thank you for all your support over the years. This site and the people on it have done so much to shape my art style and interests, and were such a comfort during my lonely teen years. (At time of recording this, I've been on DA for 15 years. That's half my life!) I hope this site continues to be a safe place of growth and friendship for young artists.
My art tablet is funded! :)
EDITED (as in, rewritten) My art tablet broke, but due to amazing people from all over the internet, the new one has been funded! If you'd still like to support me, my commissions will be open as soon as I get the new tablet, though I do have a couple people already in the queue.
I don't know what to do next.
Having finished my comic, which I’ve been working on for about 6 years on and off, I’m not sure what to work on next. It’s not for a lack of ideas, but I’m not sure what to focus on. So here’s the down low, if you’d like to give some advice. Finish my Beauty and the Beast book. I’ve been writing a novel for a long time about an overweight Beauty character dealing with bigotry who finds solace with the Beast. However, I’m having a really hard time solidifying the Beast character, which is the make or break part of a BatB adaptation, imo. Also, the way I’m writing them now, they more naturally become friends, not lovers. A platonic BatB would be awesome, but it’s not what fans of the historically romantic story come for, and not what I set out to write. Do another short comic around a short story I wrote in college. It’s about a tree who doesn’t want to be a tree, and becomes involved with a witch. The tree is the antagonist. This one would be more experimental, as the tree is just--
Fissure is finally finished! (link inside)
My webcomic is finally finished!!!! I’ve entered a short comic contest on Webtoons in order to finally finish my Little Mermaid in space adaptation which has, to me, become so much more. You can read it here. If you’d like to help me win the contest (which is partially based on popularity), please make a free account and follow the comic and leave a like if you can. If you need more convincing, here’s my teaser: Sterling, a retired astronaut, is struggling to find his way in life when a woman who looks like his dead daughter turns up on his doorstep. Who is this mysterious stranger? Is she the key to salvation he wasn't looking for? Or is none of this a coincidence at all... I’ve been working on this comic for years, as some of you know. It’s a lot like giving birth, finally having it out in the world. Again, please go read it if you’re interested in mermaids, or sci-fi, or comics. After all, what is art without an audience? If you have any questions about the work, I’d love to answer
