Morning Kisses

Jim woke to a tickle on his nose.
"Morning, lover," Ariel cooed, and he groaned, looking at the neon display of the bedside clock over her shoulder.
"It's seven in the morning," he whimpered, but he knew what she woke him up, and was presently nuzzling his clavicle, to hear. He wound his basic training-built arms around her smaller frame and drew her close, looking at her open and honest face with half-lidded eyes.
"Happy Anniversary."
She grinned and kissed him on the mouth. He leaned in for more contact, but she pushed him away with a finger on his nose.
"Not now, baby," she giggled, "I made breakfast for us, and it's getting cold."
Jim fisted the sleep from his eyes. "Break-- when did you have time to make breakfast?"
She kissed his cheek. "Baby, you sleep like a clam." Jim raised an eyebrow, once again not getting her Earth reference.
Ariel swung her legs from under the silk sheets and reached for her robe that hung from the head board.
"You don't need to put that on," he reassured her, and she gave him a pointed look as she tied the robe's sash around her waist.
"Cheeky," she said. The princess circled the bed to sit at her husband's side and kiss him fully and deeply.
"I love you," Jim whispered when they broke apart for air, pulling a hand through her long, wavy red hair. Ariel leaned in so that her forehead touched his, and they were silent for a moment as they felt the other's breath on their faces. He smelled like ozone and starlight, and she, as ever, smelled like the sea. Jim sighed, knowing he would be content if this moment would last forever.
Suddenly, he felt Ariel's eyelashes against his cheeks as she opened them.
"And I love pancakes!" she declared teasingly. "Hurry up, or I'll eat them all!" With that, she flitted from the room, leaving her very discombobulated husband to change.
